Cambodia Gambling Dens
Monday, 21. December 2009
There is an appealing history to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just across the dividing line from next door Thailand, in which gambling hall betting is against the law. Eight gambling dens are anchored in a generally tiny space in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent location, a 3 to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The phenomenal capital acquired from the gambling halls ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a number of controls constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; still, financial sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and despite the fact visas are supposedly required to cross, there are methods around this, as is true of most border crossings.
The 1st Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only 1 casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored bateau gambling den, features 150 slot machine games and sixty gaming tables. The Naga gambling hall is open all hours with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of vingt-et-un, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The original casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long followed. A total of 150 slots and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slots and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred slot machine games and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and 66 of the normal table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight casinos in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a comprehensive vacation and hotel complex that contains many conveniences in addition to the gambling hall, which has ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slots and eighty eight gaming tables.
