Cambodia Gambling Dens
Thursday, 22. December 2016
There is an interesting history to the Cambodia casinos that lie just over the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, where gambling hall wagering is not allowed. Eight gambling dens are based in a relatively small area in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime destination, a 3 to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing income acquired from the gambling halls ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of controls constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; however, funding sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and even though visas are for all intents and purposes required to pass, there are methods around this, as is true of many border crossings.
The original Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked ship gambling den, features one hundred and fifty slot machines and sixty gaming tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of 21, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The first casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon followed. A total of 150 slots and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred one armed bandits and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and ninety six table games, including eighty seven baccarat (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and sixty six of the familiar gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight casinos in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an international vacation and hotel compound that contains many conveniences in addition to the gambling den, which provides ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machines and 88 tables.
