There is an appealing story to the Cambodia gambling dens that lie just across the border from neighboring Thailand, where casino betting is not permitted. Eight casinos are anchored in a relatively small area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect spot, a three to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The astonishing capital gained from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a couple of limitations constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; although, financing sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and even though visas are apparently necessary to pass, there are methods around this, as is correct of many border crossings.
The first Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving only 1 gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary boat gambling hall, highlights one hundred and fifty slot machine games and sixty gaming tables. The Naga gambling hall never closes with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of twenty-one, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The original casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long followed. There are 150 slots and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slots and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slot machine games and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 96 table games, including 87 baccarat (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and sixty six of the familiar tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight casinos in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 one armed bandits and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational vacation and hotel complex that highlights numerous conveniences in addition to the gambling hall, which provides ten thousand square feet of 130 one armed bandits and 88 tables.
