More often than not when some individuals consider working in the wagering industry they usually envision the dealers and casino personnel. Salaries may vary by establishment and area. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data show that full-time gaming managers earned a median annual salary of $46,820 in 1999. The lowest ten percent earned less than $26,630, and the highest ten % earned well over $96,610.
Gaming supervisors oversee gaming operations and staff in an assigned area. Circulating among the table games, they ensure that all stations and games are taken care of for each shift. It also is common for supervisors to interpret the casino’s operating regulations for clients. Supervisors can also plan and arrange activities for guests staying in their casino hotels.
Gaming supervisors must have leadership qualities and above average communication skills. They need these tactics both to supervise workers effectively and to greet gamblers in order to establish return visits. Many casino supervisory staff have an associate or bachelor’s degree. Regardless of their educational background, however, almost all supervisors gain experience in other gaming jobs before moving into supervisory desks because knowledge of games and casino operations is essential for these employees.
